The Walrus Blanket Digital Pattern
Description
he Walrus Blanket, a beautiful and meaningful crochet design inspired by Sir David Attenborough's incredible documentary, Blue Planet II.
The inspiration for this blanket came from watching a mother walrus struggling to find a safe resting place for herself and her exhausted pup in the icy Arctic waters. As the sea ice continues to diminish, these beautiful animals face increasing challenges in finding somewhere safe to rest.
This emotional moment inspired me to create a blanket that represents warmth, comfort and security, just like a mother's hug.
The Walrus Blanket is not only a cosy and beautiful crochet project but also a gentle reminder of the importance of protecting our planet and its extraordinary wildlife.
The pattern includes two yarn options, allowing you to choose your preferred finish:
-
Option 1: Stylecraft Special Aran and Alpaca Tweed Chunky
-
Option 2: Scheepjes Stonewashed XL
A special thank you to Poppy's of Holmfirth for supplying the yarn and product photography, Francesca Dunn for the graphics, and Kathryn Middleton for her invaluable help testing and refining the pattern.
