About Me
Lucia Dunn

My name is Lucia. I was born in a small village in northern Italy, but almost 35 years ago I made Scotland my home. I’m a mother of four although they’re definitely not “kids” anymore!
My love of colour, fabrics, interiors and yarn has always been a big part of my life, influenced perhaps by my background in architecture. But my love of crochet began much earlier, during summers spent in Tuscany with my two grandmothers.
Every afternoon, beneath the shade of a huge old fig tree, my grandmothers would sit with their cousin Mariuccia and several other ladies from the village. There were crochet hooks, knitting needles, fabrics and yarn everywhere … along with plenty of chatting, laughter and, of course, delicious recipes being shared.
It was there that I learned to crochet, but I learned something much more important too: making is better when it is shared.
The fig tree was an oasis, a place where women gathered, generations learned from one another, and creativity, friendship, food and conversation all came together.
Many years later, living in Scotland and far from that Tuscan fig tree, I wanted to recreate that feeling.
And so Lucia’s Fig Tree was born.
A virtual place where we can gather from wherever we are in the world. A place to crochet, learn, share ideas, play with colour and yarn, and most importantly, enjoy making things together.
I don’t believe creativity is about perfection. It’s about the pleasure of making something with your own hands, trying something new, choosing colours that make you happy and learning along the way.
So pull up a chair, bring your yarn and make yourself a cup of tea.
Come and sit under my virtual fig tree. There is always room for one more. 🌿🧶!!
