Another fabulous CAL and design from Tinna! I am sure that this will inspire hundreds of fabulous blankets and I feel honoured to have been asked to create my own version which you will find in this KIT. I called my version AMMA NONNE.
There are two reasons why this blanket is very important to me…the first is because, as you know Amma means grandmother in Icelandic and as Tinna and most likely many of you, I have some very special and dear memories of my ‘Nonne’ which means grandmothers in Italian. They were accomplished crocheters and knitters and they passed on their passion for anything hand-crafted to me.
This blanket is dedicated to my Nonna Pe’, my Nonna Alma and especially Mariuccia, my Nonna Pe’ cousin, she wasn’t my grandmother but I loved her and considered her like one.
Without the love and patience of these three amazing women, I probably would not be here enjoying and sharing with you all this craft that fills me with joy!
The other reason is that it allows me to introduce you to my OWN RANGE OF YARN!!!! I always dreamed that one day I could have a range of yarn with my name, something from the factory to your house, something that I followed personally from the choice of materials to the colours, something that encompasses quality, durability and most of all a great colours choice. In brief, something to be proud of. That is how my two new ranges FOEHN AND FOEHN TWEED were born.
If you wonder what FOEHN means, it is the name of an Alpine wind warm and dry that reminds me of where I come from.
A note on the colours palette…
As this blanket is dedicated to my grandmothers I opted for some vintage colours, the colours of my youth, the colours of their projects, the little patterns of their clothes the hues of their ever-presents aprons and the interiors of their houses, the flowers and vegetables of their orchards and the heat and light of lazy Italian summers and the green of the fig tree where we sat and crochet together
I really hope you will enjoy making my Amma Nonne as much as I did creating this embrace of warmth, softness and colours like a ‘Nonna hug’.
Last but not least a big thank you go to my fabulous friend Tinna! For allowing me to create this kit, for believing in me, for being my friend always up for a chat !!!!
Peace and Love,
